Change your monthly EAP limit
Learn how to change your monthly Electronic Payment (EAP) limit on the app.

To begin, go to your home screen and tap Manage.

Tap EAP limit.

Enter your new monthly EAP limit.
Note:
You can set this amount to a maximum of R 500 000,

Then tap DONE.

All done! Your EAP limit has successfully been updated.

What are EAP limits?
EAP stands for Electronic Account Payment. Your EAP limit is the total amount you can spend every month via digital channels, such as the app, ATMs or Online Banking.
Keep in mind that EAP limits only apply to payments that you make to somebody else, not transfers within your own accounts.

Why should I set an EAP limit?
EAP limits exist to keep your money safe. For example, if you set your EAP limit to R20 000, a fraudster would only be able to withdraw that amount – and no more.
That's why it makes sense to keep your EAP limit as low as possible. You can always temporarily raise and lower it again if you need to make a big purchase.

Is it safe to change my EAP limit on the app?
Yes. If you haven't linked and secured your profile on the app (DigiME), we’ll send a One-Time PIN (OTP) to your phone to make sure it's you who wants to change the EAP limit.
You should also get an SMS confirming that you changed your limit. If this wasn't you, please get in touch with us immediately on 0860 123 000.
It's a good idea to keep an eye on your EAP limit and raise it only when necessary, for example, when you make a large payment.

I need to make a large payment. Can I increase my EAP limit then immediately lower it again?
Yes. If you're making a large payment, it's best to temporarily increase your EAP limit, then decrease it again immediately when you're done.
Can I increase my EAP limit from zero and decrease it back to zero again without having to go into a branch?
Yes, you can change your EAP limit on the app.
What's the highest amount I can set for my EAP limit?
The maximum is R500 000 per month. If you want to raise it higher, please call 0860 123 000.
What types of transactions count towards my EAP limit?
Any type of payment you make to somebody else, whether it be via the Banking App, Online Banking, Cellphone Banking, Telephone Banking or at ATMs. Instant Money vouchers also count towards your EAP limit.
This also includes payments to people whose details you've already saved (beneficiary payments), as well as payments to listed beneficiaries, such as City of Joburg.

Why can’t I increase my EAP limit on my new card?
Please call 0860 123 000 or visit your nearest branch so a consultant can set up your EAP limit for you. After that, you should be able to raise or lower it yourself.
